About the company
SULF is a politically independent trade union and professional association for university teachers, researchers, and doctoral students. They have approximately 23,000 members and are affiliated with Saco.
SULF has three offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö. This position is located at SULF's office in Gamla Stan, Stockholm, and travel within the country may occur.
At the secretariat, work is carried out in close collaboration between ombudsmen, lawyers, and other functions, and teamwork is common. There is a wealth of expertise in both Swedish labor law and the unique regulations of the higher education sector. About the position This position is a direct recruitment, which means that the recruitment process is conducted through Bravura, and you will be employed directly by SULF.
Responsibilities & tasks
As a central ombudsman and assistant union lawyer at SULF, you are offered a unique role where qualified legal work and close collaboration with elected representatives meet the opportunity to shape the future of the higher education sector. Here, you will represent the members and delve into complex labor law issues in an environment characterized by collaboration, curiosity, and high specialist knowledge. You will combine central ombudsman work with legal tasks as an assistant union lawyer. The base lies in the ombudsman role, but you will also work independently and support the union lawyer in qualified legal matters, processes, and investigations. You will work as part of a team with other ombudsmen, the head of negotiations, and the union lawyer.
Concrete tasks
Provide advice to elected representatives and members on issues related to employment and its conditions.
Represent the union in local and central negotiations.
Conduct training, both digitally and physically, for elected representatives and members.
Participate in Saco collaborations and networks and contribute to issues related to joint processes.
Conduct legal investigations and contribute to the union's legal development work.
Develop your own areas of expertise.
Education, experience, and personal qualities
Requirements
Law degree
Very good knowledge of labor law
Experience in advising, negotiating, or similar, preferably from the public sector, higher education/university, or labor/employer organizations
Very good Swedish and English in speech and writing
Understanding of the Swedish model
Meritorious
Experience with state and/or public contracts
Knowledge of the higher education sector and its special regulations
Experience with litigation
